I'm sure everyone noticed that Jason Hervey from the Wonder Years is one of the 4 friends.... and noticed at the end that the show was a production of Bischoff Hervey Productions, or whatever the company is called.
So one of the producers is right in the mix to bend the conversations toward a more pleasing direction.
