It started so well.. but ended so cliché..
they changed the ending, and IMO Sarah is not a good actress for a role like this, but I don't blame her for the movie being blah...

Well, I hate to break it to you but the movie follows the book very closely. Many people don't exactly have faith that it will be a great movie considering the book is mediocre at best. How exactly did they change the ending?
The lack of an interesting script, well-written characters, bad source material etc. can greatly affect other elements such as performance...so whether or not SMG is "good for the role" would pretty much be irrelevant if there are already so many issues.
