Four Weddings and a Funeral

I used to think that Supporting Actor ranked right up there with Key Grip and Best Boy Electric until I saw KST's performance in Four Weddings and a Funeral. She is amazing to watch as Fiona, in unrequited love with the film's main character.

Her Juliette in I Loved You So Long starts out almost excessively wooden until you realize that KST has nailed her character completely. Who wouldn't be wooden after fifteen years of not trusting a soul in prison... especially given the reason for the jail term.

Juliette's slow transition is perfectly acted, a prime example of KST's talents when one considers that a movie is never filmed in sequence. The director uses many close-ups that would be unforgiving to many other actresses.

I thought this was a great film, and superb performances by both KST and Elsa Zylberstein as her sister.

I agree wholeheartedly. I saw this movie 20 minutes ago and I can't recall a movie that I have seen recently that had acting (by KST and the girl who played Lea) as good as this. This film was very subtle in spots and I'm sure that American audiences will not like it at all and will think it dull or boring. French movies rely on dialogue a lot and while you are still thinking about what just happened in one scene you are suddenly in the next scene and don't know how you got there. French directors tend to leave a lot up to the viewer's intelligence or intuition and don't feel like every little thing must be explained.
