Why is the english title I've loved you so long and not I've loved you FOR so long? Are both these sentences correct? I thought only the latter was aceptable.

I have been loving you for a long time... unless my grandma was wrong and i'd rather chew off a leg than say she would be :o)

It's just a modern/informal reduction/simplification.
