They've been making remakes way before any of us were born. Mary Pickford's silent version of Pollyanna and Hayley Mills' soundie Pollyanna were based on the book. Again Mary P -silent Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm vs Shirley Temple's soundie Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm were also based on the book. Hiedi??? Don't get me started. How about all of the Christmas Caroles???? Oh yeah - Star Is Born....

I saw the first Footloose when it first ran in the theaters -it's a classic but I just saw the remake. Looking at it from older eyes I still enjoyed the 2011 version. But the first is dear to my heart...

I'm just surprised Bacon wasn't in it especially after loosing money in the Madoff scheme he could have used the bucks.

Bacon was offered a small part but not the one he wanted so he said no.

I wish I had a Kryptonite cross, because then I could keep Dracula & Superman away.

Yes he was offered the small role of Ren's deadbeat dad-which if you have seen the remake you know doesn't exist (the character I mean)
No one has said my favorite movie and though its from 1986, I still gotta say it: Jim Henson's Labyrinth. Heard Tim Burton's been after this one for a while. Just don't. You can't remake a movie with your boytoy the man can not sing or act so please don't touch it. I can't imagine anyone else but David Bowie doing those songs.
And a remake that was decent that wasn't mentioned (far as I saw) Cape Fear I loved both versions of this movie and De Niro was nuts in it just nuts. Cape Fear-that's how you do a decent remake Hollywood. Take notes.

Well, Ghostbusters (2016) just said hi.

Funny how the OP predicted that one right. 
