They have to be trolling... Kenny is from Boston.

I don't know why they changed his hometown from Chicago to Boston either

Most likely, Kenny not being a professional actor, would not be able to speak without a Boston accent.

Ren's origin city isn't really that important anyway, it's only important that Ren go from a metropolis to a small town. If you notice, the Bomont in this movie is also different, being in Alabama, compared to Utah in the original.

Kind of funny that the poster said his accent is horrible as if it's fake even though it's his real accent
