some impressive casting and costumes could buy alot of good will and excitement. unfortunately i dont think current marvel is capable of that. its all about the message and hitting minority casting checkboxes rather than telling a good story.
shareTo the casual movie goer/MCU'er who isn't all clued up on the D+ stream series and just caught Cap Marvel 1 (and certainly Endgame) this will look to be as you say forced diversity check box ticking with Cap Marvel reduced to a co starring role in her own sequel
shareClearly Marvel higher ups didnt believe in her having a standalone. if she was a strong enough draw on her own they wouldnt have done a team up. so they thought maybe getting ms marvel tv fans in might guarantee a decent box office.
people went as saw Cap marvel before because that was peak marvel, sandwiched between two of the most popular films and people wanted to make sure they didnt miss anything. without that its clear there was no demand for it.
it truly is a shame. i was excited to see what Marvel would do with the X-men when it was first announced. their intricate story telling was spot on, their casting was spot on, their world building was spot on, their costumes spot on.
Now we are jsut as likely to get the X-people, with cyclops as second tier instead led by "girl boss strong african queen storm!". thats if they dont turn cyclops into some short haired lesbian.
So is Rambo now in the Fox-verse Xmen universe? and her alt universe mother exists in that universe as Cap Marvel? (not the same as Dr Strange 2 illuminati-verse)
