what happened to the guy who owned the dog?

just finished watching the movie and wondered what happened to the guy that owned the jack russell dog?

I saw the bit where jacob went back on the train 2 get marlena and then it went to the scene of the next day where Jacob was carrying the dog as if he was wanting to take the dog with him. I think i missed a scene?

He got redlighted (thrown off a moving train). There is a quick explanation that August was enraged when Marlena left, and both the little guy and Camel (the old man who mentors Jacob) are briefly seen dead on the rocks below the track.
