Why did August refer to Rosie as the bull?
I always thought bull meant the male cow. Maybe a stupid question but English is not my first language.
I had to look that up, but, apparently, all elephants were referred to as bulls in Depression era circuses. The practice continues to a great extent in circuses today. I have no idea why, but, the book/film was accurate in this regard.
