It's kinda sad Richard Linklater still doesn't know how to write female characters

None of the female characters are shown in a great light. His mother makes poor decisions with men throughout the whole movie and just complains throughout. His sister's a pain who always bitches about everything and serves no significance to the story. Mason's girlfriend of course turns on him by cheating on him with a college guy. And yeah the girl at the end was appealing but I'm sure if the movie was any longer, they'd find a way to make her unlikable too. And the movie's pretty stereotypical too about girls like that one friend of Mason's saying she's reading Twilight and To Kill a Mockingbird and her brother has an interest in Kurt Vonnegut yet they couldn't have HER reading that.
