I'm amazed that this is based on the same book as "La Reina del Sur"

Ok, I had started watching La Reina del Sur before El Señor de los Cielos,but I saw maybe 3 eps.

Now that El Señor is over, I started watching it again. I'm 12 eps into La Reina, and thus far the only parallels to Queen of the South is that Guerro was killed and Theresa grabbed the money, gun, and notebook. In La Reina, Theresa gave the notebook to Epifanios right away. There was no wife dreaming drugs in the US, she went to Spain. It's crazy how these stories are so very different.

They're different but equally enjoyable, in my opinion.

I didn't think I would like QOTS after watching La Reina del Sur. But I was pleasantly surprised that I did.
