Why does "Suitcase" call Jesse "Lou?"

He has lapses where he calls Jesse by his previous chief's name (Lou Carson). I assume it's because of his brain injury.

It is quite odd. At first I thought he was doing it on purpose, but when Jesse asked him he denied it. Now he is back on regular duty and might not be all there.

It's down to his brain injury. His brain is pulling out the wrong name as Jesse is in the same position as Lou was so it makes a mistake sometimes when getting the right name. The brain is a complicated thing and any brain injury has some ill side effects, this can be mental illness or just small mistakes like with Suitcase calling Jesse Lou sometimes.

I thought Suit was paying Jesse back for Jesse not calling him by his real name. I thought it might be Lew as in Lew Stone (same surname as Jesse's). An old actor perhaps but old actors are referenced in the Jesse Stone movies. I don't think Suit would have been on duty if he was still feeling the effects of his head wounds.

I love the "Lou" lines... Jesse's exasperated expressions are hilarious.
