This whole exercise is blasphemous!

Thor is a Norse God who should be respected. How dare they let a mere mortal lift his hammer? I don't mind Marvel making comics/movies of Thor but it should be done with reverence. I thought it was horrible when they gave him a beer gut in the Ragnarok movie and he is now being replaced by a female. A god should not be replaced.

I believe the Norse gods are part of the Northern European cultural heritage and they should be protected. Marvel should have hired religious/historical experts to prevent them from besmirching the legacy of the Norse gods. I'm looking forward to season two of Ragnarok tv show instead of this Marvel drivel.

Comics are entertainment, so by default it should not be taking seriously, but be enjoyed. I feel as you do, as I have a massive reverence for Odin, Thor, Freya and the other Norse gods.

People will always find ways to make money out of something, no matter the subject matter. Rather than being angry with Marvel, rather celebrate people like the folk band Heilung, who continue to spread the Norse/germanic history throughout the world.

If no one still - believes in Thor,
Then who will tell me of the Norsemen's lore?
Heed this warning - everyone,
When the giants attack they'll destroy Valhalla...

Giants creeping, giants leaping
round in Jotunheim,
Til the day Loki betrays
Aesir of Odin's line.

Army of Giants, marching on Heaven's halls,
Monsters of mischief, joining the brawl,
The Midgard serpent and Fenrir the wolf,
Join the army of giants.
Yes the army of giants.

Honored heroes, Valkyrie chose
to fight for the gods,
They train daily until they see
the day of Ragnarok.

Army of Giants, marching on Heaven's halls,
Monsters of mischief, joining the brawl,
The Midgard serpent and Fenrir the wolf,
Join the army of giants.
Yes the army of giants.

Now sing that to the tune of Ozzy's Killer of Giants and you'll have a rompin' good time!

reply

An underrated Ozzy song. Interestingly, THE ULTIMATE SIN was originally slated to be called KILLER OF GIANTS, but Osbourne changed it at the last minute.

reply

Never knew that. The whole album was pretty good. Not quite Blizzard of Oz or Diary of a Madman good, but good nonetheless.

reply

Diary of a Madman is my favorite opus by Ozzy -- "Believer," "Over the Mountain," the title cut -- just an exceptional album.
