the greatest producer of our time

You know, as I edge towards 40, I find myself thinking back through the years of all the things that have brought joy and inspiration into my life. Each memory holds a significance, that in some way, has changed and enriched my life.

Film, more over, the viewing of the productions produced on it, have an incredible ability to become embedded in each of our souls, our minds, and our hearts; and it is this embeddedment that either inspires us, changes us, or even goes as far as "flipping" on an emotional switch of sorts, within all of us, that may have been turned off for a long time. And in the end, these factors combined, help give each of us well rounded spirits and souls.

Expertly produced entertainment is more than watching a movie... It IS in fact, an alteration of the way we can view a situation, a person, or a place. Even more than that, it creates images of self which we, as the viewing public may aspire to be.

---- Visual storytelling at it's finest...

That's the purpose of the motion picture industry, to me, and the best producers of our time understand this principal, and exercise it with ease.

Kevin Sullivan is this kind of producer. He understands the human emotion so completely, that each of his films, ---especially the Anne of Green Gables series-- whisps us into the lives of each character in a three dimensional format. That third dimension,(depth of character, and grain of realism) is the key element that makes his films of fiction--- such as the Anne series, seem so real--- SO REAL, that in fact, Prince Edward Island in Canada once proudly sported legal license plates phrased "The Home Of Anne of Green Gables"... something that may be overlooked in today's fast paced society, and in the criticism of film work. That in itself, is something of which to be most proud, and is a testimony to his great ability to create realism in his characters. In a way, Kevin must have won over the entirety of Prince Edward Island, as the fictious Anne Shirley had done, or the license plates would not have existed.

Kevin gives us what we want, in my opinion; and as I read the comments about the new Anne film coming out, I would like to insert and remind those of critic, that Anne was MADE REAL in all of our hearts, and she too, like all of us, has a story, and has changed. She too, had a life... and part of loving a charater with devotion, just as a live person, is loving unconditionally... if one is too indeed call it love.

As a writer myself, my only hope is to publish just ONE story capable of creating a mere fraction of the sentiment that Kevin Sullivan has mastered in film after film.

His work aspires me to achieve greatness... and for that, Kevin, I owe you much gratitude. Thank you so much...

I don't know. I appreciate your love of "Anne of Green Gables"; the story is a touchstone in my life, as well. But Kevin Sullivan strikes me as more of a parasite clinging to the ghost of LM Montgomery than anything else. He refuses to do anything besides remake "Anne" over and over again because it's a solid money-maker. He doesn't seem interested in creating anything; he just keeps flogging the old story for cash again and again. When I saw the listing for a new "Anne" series, I clicked on it, interested. When I saw Kevin Sullivan was the producer, I groaned. Find a new trick, pony.

I appreciate your views... and in light of your opinions, I will say I DO, suprizingly, agree with some of your points. The old story is stretching itself out a bit, but I still think that his involvement with it is what breathed life into it. You have to give the guy credit, though, he hooked alot of is with it, right? It's possible that he is hooked to Anne too, like an addict is hooked to a drug... and in a way, isn't that what Anne has been to all of us?
