Did anyone read the book adaptation?
Has anyone read the book that was based on this movie, and if so is it good?

shareI've read the whole Anne of Green Gables series and I'm pretty sure there isn't a book based off of this movie.
If you can't be true to yourself who can you be true to?
I have read ALL of the books & this series has gone WAY off base! The other books are fantastic. I think if you read & enjoyed Anne of Green Gables you would enjoy the other books. By the way in the books you can see the happiness of Anne & Gilbert. I think they'd be far less likely to disappoint you!

There IS a book based on this film. It was written by Kevin Sullivan, the director of the film. I used to have it, but I gave it to a friend.
shareL.M. Montgomery is the true author of the Anne of Green Gables series. Anything Kevin Sullivan has written is for profit (based on the screenplay) & NOT part of the series!

Yes I read the book and thought it was very true to the series of the other books. In other words, I felt that the writer kept in Anne in character with LM Montgomery's books. Well worth it to read, so much that after borrowing it from the library, I bought it!
shareI think some of you have it confused with "Before Green Gables." Looking at Kevin Sullivan's online store, it seems there is a book that is a novelization of this movie, but it's not "Before Green Gables."
What we see and what we seem are but a dream. A dream within a dream.share
I read a book called 'Before Green Gables' and it was a fantastic prequel. It was an enjoyable read. Not the heights of Montgomery, naturally but it's not trying to be. It's a little more contemporary and easier to read but I could believe it was Anne. I read it in a matter of 48 hours. I thought this film was based on that book but now I read the outline of the movie, it seems that it has nothing to do with it. There is no wealthy Shirley McLaine type character and she is most definitely and orphan in the book I read. It's a pity but I just ordered the movie today so it's good I know to expect something completely different. I just have to learn to see all this as fan fiction.
shareI think Sullivan effed up more on this movie than in the 3rd one. There was the book "Before Green Gables" which I think came out last year, it is a good book, and does give a little bit more of a story to Anne's parents. However, Sullivan couldn't even do that story right and not only did he put MacLaine in the story where she does not belong BUT he made Anne's father alive? Ick!
