Maybe I've always been a specific, detailed person, but I always recognized those movies as purely PIXAR's creations. (Though as a kid, I'd connect it to Disney as "Disney-PIXAR" because that's how I would see the credits, in an abbreviated way)
I think that yes, Disney has their own sort of tradition/reputation in their movies and they often want to keep movies within those standards, possibly out of fear of flops that would be blamed on them because of their name, but PIXAR has given a wellneeded push over Disney in their new, seperate characteristics.
I've always seen Disney and PIXAR as a collaboration, but I also see them as two almost entirely different companies. Neither is taking over each other; PIXAR still has their say in things and people definitely recognize and credit them in their own individuality.
