Will they release a DVD box set maybe? It would be worth it just to see Ray Park play Chuck Norris. I wonder if he will use a dialog coach or be dubbed?

reply

[deleted]

That didn't look like anything special, very low budget looking production.
Also, did I see wrong or was that supossedly Chuck Norris fighting Bruce Lee in some tournament? Because I think Bruce Lee never fought in any tournaments, nor did he fight Chuck Norris who was his friend.

reply

[deleted]

Lee never fought in a tournament, period. He did a demonstration at Ed Parker's tournament with his 2-finger pushups, 1-inch punch, etc but unlike in the Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story movie, he did not fight another kung fu master, to say nothing of fighting Chuck Norris. Like J said, ovbiously exaggerated, creative license

reply

[deleted]

Yes, let me clarify I know from the biography by John Little he fought the rival, just not at the Ed Parker tounament, that is all I meant. As far as fighting Chuck Norris, maybe they sparred each other in training, just for the workout, but there is no record I'm aware of when Lee competed.

Still, this upcoming movie could be cool, if for no other reason to see Ray Park again.

According to Chuck Norris' autobiography when he met with Bruce Lee for the first time they sparred together in the hotel corridors the whole night, They also learned from eachother.

Some say that Chuck Norris was Bruce Lee's student, which isn't quite true, they both teached eachother different techniques.

[deleted]

*beep* Norris never taught Lee anything. I suggest you take a look at the articles and dvds put out by John Little, who has access to the Lee Estate. This is a lie put forth by Norris to boost his sorry life. When Lee was alive, Norris walked on egg shells and told the media Lee was his master. Im sick and tired of this myth put forth by moron like you. Stop the s h i t already and get it right!

just listen to what Chuck Norris said about Bruce Lee http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zH7D8-eXsnM&feature=related

You can read what others said about Bruce lee in http://www.bruceleedivinewind.com/feats.html

reply

Otherwise known as Way of the Dragon in most places.

I think he beat Wong Jack Man in his own studio or something. Apparently, according to Linda Lee, he easily beat him and most of the fight was Bruce Lee chasing him around and is what motivated him to come up with his JKD fighting philosophy since he felt classical Kung Fu wasn't effective enough.

reply

Bruce Lee one of Chuck's teachers though. At least for a while, and they did make a movie together as well.

reply

But Lee fought numerous people who would challenge him to a real fight to see if he was for real. From Hong Kong, to Thailand, to the U.S. people would always try to pick a fight with him to see if he was genuine! I think most of the scenes in the trailer are showing those "lost fights".

reply

How many UFC fighters could do that in real life anyway?
They fight for money and glory and honour to be inducted into the UFC hall of fame. Would they fight the gangsters with knives and chains for nothing?

When Bruce Lee was in his teen he fought guys and gangsters with knives and chains on the street and on the roof. Those guys met to fight to see who was better and stronger. That's why Bruce's mom sent him to U.S. to stop fighting. When he went to U.S. it didn't stop him from fighting either. White and black men challenged him to fights and were defeated and later became his students.
Bruce demonstrated his fighting skills at the Long Beach tournament. He was so fast in real life just like in his movies. He did a three finger pushing, one-inch punch and sparred with a few black belt fighters none of them could touch Bruce.
You can buy a Bruce Lee: A Warrior's journey DVD and watch it. There is home make video about him teaching James Cousburn and others...etc.

I bumped into Wong In Sik the Korean who played a Japanese fighter in Return Of The Dragon in a mall here in Toronto, Canada. I asked him if Bruce was so fast and he got upset and raised his voice a bit and said "Only in the movies, only in the movies." and walked away from me. I told Bey Logan about that and he said Wong should give Bruce some respect for making him famous.

Chuck Norris admitted that he would be in a no contest against Bruce in a real fight.

Lee had boxed in the 1958 Boxing Championships held between twelve Hong Kong schools, a tournament in which he beat the three-time champion from another school (an English boy). (Thomas, Bruce. Bruce Lee: Fighting Spirit. 1994, Frog, Ltd. page 27)

bruce lee actually did fight, that's how he also got famous too.

he defeated 3 time champion gary elms at 18, in the 1958 amateur boxing championship.

but he did not compete professionally in tournaments.

Dan Inosanto said, "there's no doubt in my mind that if Bruce Lee had gone into pro boxing, he could easily have ranked in the top three in the lightweight division or junior-welterweight division." Birchland, Bob (November), ""The Truth of Boxing: A Critical Look at Bruce Lee's Hand Skills"", Black Belt Magazine: pg. 93, <http://www.blackbeltmag.com>;

In 2004, UFC president Dana White credited Lee as the "father of mixed martial arts".[65]

On April 10, 2007 China's national broadcaster announced it has started filming a 40-part series on Lee. Xinhua News Agency said China Central Television started shooting "The Legend of Bruce Lee" over the weekend in Shunde in Guangdong province in southern China. Shunde is the ancestral home of Lee, who was born in San Francisco. It said the 50 million yuan (US$6.4 million; €4.8 million) production will also be filmed in Hong Kong and the United States,

Unless I'm mistaken, I thought I read somewhere that Chuck Norris was undefeated in touraments. I'm being serious, not another "Chuck Norris Fact".

reply

undefeated in what? Non contact tournaments you mean. Thats for sissies because they dont intentionally touch each other. Lee laughed at these matches. Thats why Norris went to him for his revolutionary knowledge.

reply

The woman playing Bruce's wife looks nothing like Linda Lee, either. LOL.

StarThriller

reply

Yeah, Michelle Lang looks WAY HOTTER than Linda!! 8P Kinda European like...:P

reply

Are they gluing an entire sheep to Ray Park's chest? hehe. Norris is one fuzzy man.

I think this looks Ridicules. I enjoyed Dragon, even though it stretched the truth, but that is why it was called "Legend". However, this "REMAKE" looks pretty cheesy. "I...I wuve you", come one....I taste cheddar.

reply

Man this looks pretty horrible. Bruce Lee would be turning in his grave if he saw this. I know their trying but they failed. Bruce Lee can never be imitated.

reply

I don't know what to say. It could be great but whats with this wire-fu stuff Bruce Lee was a real fighter and not some faqke iron monkey hidden tiger.
yeeshh

reply

lol damn, i have mixed reactions to this. i just hope they dont get carried away with exaggerations, but from the looks of the trailer it seems that this production takes so much liberties with Lee's character. oh well, wonder if theyre going to show this in the U.S....

I am so glad this is being made in china. If it were being made in the US, it would be terrible. Sorry but, American producers have forgotten how to make a good TV series. You are all interested in reality TV, and it doesn't matter what crap it is about either. We get the same shows in Canada and those viewers are just as dumbed down. This is why I have not had cable for about 5 years now. I still hold out hope that intelligent programming will return to American studios.

Survivor killed the TV star.

I avoid ALL reality shows. I support this fad in no way shape or form. It doesn't matter the show, the motivation is the same.

I wanna be seen on TV. I want MY face on TV, give me my 15 minutes!
