The good things

I know the film series is considered to be loud, incoherent, disrespectful to its source material and just overall terrible. But every awful film has a few redeeming factors, elements it did get right; scenes, characters, performances or lines you did like. Even if it's just one or two things.

What are the things you did like about Revenge of the Fallen?

Mine are:

The opening scene with The Twins, Arcee and Sideswipe chasing and taking out Sideways.

The forest battle with Optimus Prime versus Megatron, Starscream and Grindor.

Bumblebee vs. Rampage/Skipjack and Ravage. I liked Rampage's design very much.

The scene between Bumblebee and Sam in the garage.

Disrespectful to the source material? Well, yes, but I think this is the one Bayformers installment that did the best job of showing the widest variety in the Transformers universe.

We had a female Transformer. We had a combiner (two if you kinda count 'Jet Optimus'). We had incredible scale, from massive (Demolisher) to teeny tiny (the particulates that formed Reedman) and everything in between. We had a Pretender. We had an uber-Decepticon that wasn't Megatron. We had Optimus get pwned. We had a story that focused significantly on the Decepticons. We had only the second G1 voice actor reprising his original role (Welker as Soundwave). And to boot, Soundwave and his 'ejectable' minion Ravage were written brilliantly to fit their original roles.

Can't say the same thing about the others films.

The film was far from good, don't get me wrong. As a Transformers fan I could rhyme off a thousand things that I hated about this one. But it was far more ambitious than the others, which is why I can tolerate it more than the others. ;-)

I think all Transfomers movies start off strong (haven't seen Age of Extinction yet).

Can't stop the signal.

These. Also:
- We had some classic interaction between Megatron and Starscream (the banter and beatdowns were brief but nice)

- We had Jetfire, an ex-Decepticon who got the most interesting character background (apart from the main duo of Optimus and Megatron)

- We had a fairly balanced view of humanity; something different and more positive from the evil humans in the third and fourth films. The humans were both aware of the collateral damage of the TF war, but chose to side with the good guys.

- A battle held over a plain, instead of in a crowded city - it was a different and unusual battlefield, which paid off.
