Poor film direction

Poor directing ruined this movie. It had a feel-good movie promise but it just didn't deliver. I can't believe Matthew Diamond has had a long directing career. He could've definitely done a whole lot better within the same budgetary parameters. There must have been some kind of behind the scene production problems while shooting this movie, especially towards the end.

The cast had the potential to bring about a better performance. The lead actor over-acted a lot while singing her last song - and this was down bad - not her fault, but what's up with choreography? You can definitely find lots of high school productions fare better.

Also, where's the editing? Did they EVEN do their jobs? However, it still all boils down to the film direction. The screenplay was OK - for a pre-teener to teen movie, but the direction and editing could've absofreakinglutely given a better quality output.

Is this Disney?

I believe the songs were OK, they weren't really bad. The direction, however, was really bad.

And the scene wherein the 2 other boy bandmates trying to convince the lead band mate to take the band camp, er, Camp Rock while parked AT THE CAMP itself was simply annoying and stupid. The "convincing" could've taken place elsewhere but not at the camp itself!

agreed! Especially the first Jam, when there's the song and dance number with the tables.. terrible directing. It all started going down from there.

Harry Potter: Read the books, the movies DON'T exist!

Ah, yes, that one's especially noteworthy. Truly terrible. It's a guiding and shining example on HOW NOT to do musicals.
