Whoever drew up the original contract was an idiot
I mean, who would draw up an agreement that would allow Ford to see the design of your invention but then not commit them to buying the device from you, instead of designing it on their own. Sure, there's probably loop holes Ford could jump through to exempt them, however the inventor's attorney should see this as an option and make a tight contract not allowing loop holes. Just seems to me if this is how it is done, would any inventor partner with a large company if they can just steal the secrets.
