Was Gil Previck a crook?

The movie did predict him in a suspicious light. He didn't mind the theft. He appeared prosperous. He refused to testify against Ford. And why the heck did he patent the invention in his company's name? It seems to me that he was in cahoots with Ford in pushing Kearns out of the deal. Later on, he felt guilty and agreed to transfer the patent to Kearns.

He didn't want to testify against Ford, or any auto manufacturer, because Previk was a supplier to the auto industry, Ford was their customer, and they did not want to lose the business.
