Is Jack Black box office poison?

Maybe it's time to try his hand at series tv instead.

reply

Gulliver's Travels did huge numbers overseas.

reply

He is awful.

reply

I would not call him awful because I think he did good in School of Rock and the King Kong movie. I am going to see this today and one of the reasons is because he is in it..plus Steve Martin.

reply

Yeah, he's a pretty good actor. I've never thought he was that funny though.

Jack Black isn't poison. His AGENT is.

Top 5 performances:
High Fidelity
Cable Guy
Nacho Libre
Be Kind Rewind
Heat Vision and Jack

Worst performances:
Gulliver's Travels (IT STINKS!)
King Kong (mediocre at best)
Tropic Thunder (too crude - but had moments: "gravy")

Haven't seen:
School of Rock
any Tenacious D stuff

As for The Big Year:
I liked it. It was never crude or over the top. Scarf scene was funny. It had a bunch of poignant moments. Good family fare. Nicest moment in the movie (hard to decide this one) is when Brad realizes his dad is alone in the forest.

reply

you should see School of Rock, avoid tenacious D

reply

Jack Black is box office poison and Steve Martin is box office poison.

Plus this film looked terrible and unfunny.

"Stop calling me Muggeridge!"

reply

How is Steve Martin box office poison? Sure, he makes more family films nowadays but they still make money. His only two flops in recent memory are this movie and Pink Panther 2.

reply

YES! I think he counts to much on his eyebrow. He should get a new agent.
