Felt bad for Bostick

I really feel for the guy. I mean sure he was kinda obsessed to keep the record but who wouldn't? From the movie it seems like he never cheated and did it with honor and he had the same intentions as the other, to be "marked in the books".

But instead of a happy ending like the other his wife left him and he won't have kids. It wasn't the first time either as his wife told us he seperated from another wife in 2003.

Guess, as they said, that is the price to be the best, but still - think he deserv better.

No, he deserved what he got. I didn't like how they spent the first half of the film implying that he might be a cheater, then have a scene where Steve Martin happens upon him being a good, honorable birder. They did a 180 on him and made me like him until two minutes later when he leaves his wife in the lurch at the clinic like a scumbag. So in roughly a matter of 3 minutes he went from possible cheater to a good guy/birder to an absolute piece of sh!t.

I think he was someone who couldn't decide between birding and his wife, which is sad. I think they were trying to show that he's a good guy, but his hobby has consumed him and he's not capable of being in a relationship until he is able to balance them. I did feel bad for him, he was torn, but kind of numb I think too.

That was the whole point of the movie...You have to choose the right path in life.
Brad chose btwn birding and his dad. Stu chose between his company and retiring, etc.

They all have so much to lose and Bostick lost the most.

i cant feel sorry for any owen wilson character. i just wanna punch them all in the face

Hahaha, I quite like Owen Wilson, but I also completely understand people wanting to re-rearrange his nose lol!

OP - Of course you're supposed to sympathise with him. Very nice morals in there wasn't there. He picked the wrong bird, is what the story ultimately wants to tell you

I don't feel bad for him. His wife told him she would give him a second chance if he stayed home, but he chose the birds. He had a clear choice between the birds and his wife, and he chose the birds. Honestly I don't think he would have been any happier if he had chosen his wife. Both things were important to him, and he picked the most important thing to him.

It's sad, but as I said, it was ultimately his decision.
