US v UK Big Year

I enjoyed the movie although a lot of it was the unknown to me as set in North America of which I only know Florida. I read The Big Year years ago and also a UK-equivalent called Rivals & Arrivals.

Obviously the UK book was a toned down, or rather a scaled-down version of its US counterpart, we are, after all a tiny island.

Competitive birding or twitching is a fascinating subject and as much a study of human traits as our feathered friends.

Thanks for sharing this info--interesting to hear about the differences. I don't recall seeing any locales in the movie in Canada, Mexico, or even, for that matter, Hawaii...so are we to assume the "North American Big Year" is limited to the continental U.S.?

At least one of the locations mentioned in the movie was British Columbia. It was the house where Owen Wilson jumps the fence to the back yard while Steve Martin is talking to the elderly woman to get the key.
