'Birding is for losers'

Last line in film suggest that

"i have life & girl so screw birding"

lame movie got to say

I saw this film for free... and still wanted my money back.

Not the message at all I don't think. It's not specific to birding in any way really, it could have been ANY hobby someone takes too seriously. Basically it's saying when an interest/hobby is keeping you from having a life and being happy, it's no longer fun and worth doing and you need to prioritize.

It's a common message amongst movies, this one just happened to be set against the backdrop of birding...

"You didn't like this movie? Go watch [insert completely opposite movie] instead"

I think it was more "screw stupid big year record", cos there are always a price to pay for greatness. We the admirer of those great people dont know what kind of sacrifice they've done, to themselves, to their loved ones.
a hobby should stay as a hobby, not an obsession.

and in the last scenes, they're still birding anyway.

reply

That's most definitely not what it was trying to get across.

Greatness comes at a price. If you want to be number one, you're most likely going to have to pay in some way in one way or another.

It paints a picture of this, and that sometimes, it's better to not throw it all away because you will end up with regrets and realize that there are more important things in life than being #1.

Screw birding?

They were both still birding in that shot...

The message was more...screw the competition, which is something else.

Btw, i would love to run into a female birder as beautiful as Ellie...that's clearly makebelieve .

LOL, its true. I'm a long time, hard core birder. I tried for years to find attractive female birders to date, and I came to the conclusion that they are as rare as a Raucous-necked Wood Rail in New Mexico.

When you find one, they usually have some alternate agenda, and it ends badly.
