My View

I have a very eclectic movie collection. I have everything from The Stranger (Orson W) to Barton Fink to Public Enemy (Cagney) to every Die Hard film ever made and Dawn Of The Dead.

While I'm not going to rave about this film, I enjoyed it. The only way I can explain people hating on this film is that it seems for many people these days, their compehension of genre and mood in film is broken. They seem to only have a small number of templates in their head and if they see a film that doesn't fit one of the templates, they hate it.

This is well written, well acted, charming, interesting, and not worth the bashing some give it.

I can tell you why its hated.

When a poster have Steve Martin, Jack Black and Owen Wilson on it, and its a "comedy".
Then people expect one hell of a comedy.
When its a drama with not much fun, people gets quite dissepointed.

Its like putting Eddie Murphy, Chevy Chase and Jim Carrey on same poster. People expect crazy fun even if its a drama.

Anyway. A extended edition of the movie is just released on BR and DVD.
