Wow. "Gaslight" redux. Even the twists have twists.

SPOILERS: This was one of the smartest thrillers in years and features the best and strongest heroine. A worthy homage to Gaslight, both with the manipulated woman triumphant at the end. The director (and writer!) knows the audience loves to guess ahead, to foresee ways to reveal and combat the invisible man for example, and when their own ideas appear on the screen it's soooo satisfying! Then he wipes the smug grin off your face with a twin twist. Like in the fountain pen suicide scene you foresaw to deny him the baby morphs into a trick to do the only thing guaranteed to make him get within her stabbing reach. Instant offense from apparent defense. Did not see that coming. Likewise her killing him the same way he killed her sister, rubbing his own cleverness in his dying face. Some suggestions: A private, unvideod, wink and a smirk after his final denial would have made his death more morally palatable, been an instant signal of his impending death, and wrapped up our questions with a bow. But ambiguous works for me, too.
