Okay, I watched it... still don't get it.
It's fantasy... but you have ruins of our cities, but magic exists, and demons exist.
And there is ageless tree that holds the deamons at bay for millenia yet you have vehicles that could not possibly be older then 100 years because corrosion would eat it whole after that.
And humans are scarce but there is mighty elven empire... I JUST DON'T GET THIS!
Maybe some explanation? Any kind of backstory behind all those ruins and a little fact that MAGIC IS REAL in what appears to be our world? And what about those stones? What the hell did I just watched?

There was an apocalyptic event, technology was destroyed, species were mutated and magic came back. It's explained in the title sequence.

The presence of cars and other things is just laziness on behalf of the production team.

Due to the lack of moderators, trolls can ruin the IMDB message boards. Don't feed them.

Technology got destroyed? In one episode they are watching a Star Trek movie....yeah. They somehow kept the knowledge to use dvd players. And get electricity up and running.

A DVD lasts longer than it takes for several species to evolve....Stunning writing.

They did that in the show to play with the "decaying society" aspect. Otherwise it's just another show with swords and elves.
