I hate when they don't release series on region 1 or classics on region 1 for people in usa i think it's rude of uk not to release movies and series for people in usa at all. But i would like to have copy of this please? Thanks.

It's not a matter of UK production companies not releasing movies to the US, it's an issue of US distributors not wanting them. Believe me, UK production companies would like nothing better than to release their shows in the US, after all the US is a bigger DVD market than anywhere else. The problem is that US distributors don't think they'll make any money from them, often due to everyone in them being English. Whether it's true or not, US distributors believe that, with very few exceptions, US audiences will not pay en masse for films that don't have American characters in them. (And many distributors are happy to keep it that way - it means less competition for home-grown material.)

If you like the Devil's Whore, I would also recommend Charles II The Power and the Passion which seems to start just where the Devil's Whore ends. It can be viewed on youtube.

That's pretty much mostly true, though I'll add that any distributor worth their salt will pick up a film that they think is going to make money. A mini series regarding the English Civil War, no matter how well shot (and this particular series is exceptionally well shot for a TV mini series) will need some tweaking to get the potential audience up to speed on the story's setting. I think that, more than the non-American aspect per-se, probably keeps this series out of the US airwaves.

Now, is that smart marketing thinking? Yeah, to a point. The series itself, if explained that it regards a woman, would probably do well to a certain segment of American TV viewership. But, it would probably be a niche audience, and as such, the cost for importing the series might not justify its airing, because it's advertisers and various satellite and cable subscriptions that ultimately are needed to flip the bill.

Personally, I'm not a big fan of the series. I bought a copy and finished watching it as of last night. It's got some very nice artistry in it, but the whole thing seemed a little cliche from a TV marketing standpoint. It's worth a look, but not much else.

US amazon doesn't offer it, but you can get it off of Canadian Amazon.
