DO NOT buy the American version! Unless you want to miss out.

I purchased the American (region 1) version, which was retitled "The Devil's Mistress."

I watched it and thought it was good, but choppy and some things didn't make sense.

Then I watched some videos on YouTube and realized there were whole scenes I had missed.

I checked the run-time, and found out the UK original version, "The Devil's Whore", is about 25 min. longer than the version released in the US.

I purchased the UK version, and it made a lot more sense story-wise. Much better to watch the whole thing as originally intended.

I can't think why they edited it so drastically and badly for the US market.

Anyway, the US version is very inferior, if you can possibly get the original, region 2, 215 minute run-time version, it is much better. If you don't have a region two DVD player, most laptops play any region.

I'm mad I paid for the crappy version first.

This could explain why I found it nearly incomprehensible, especially with fine British actors giving oddly weak performances. It seemed as if whole episodes were missing. I downloaded it from Hoopla via my local library and was definitely handicapped by the lack of captions or subtitles.
