So who took all the Carl/Ellie photos?

Nobody was living in the house with them, so who took all those photos of both of them?

As for the end-sequence photos of Russell, Carl, and Dug, it's safe to assume that one of the other dogs took them (if a dog can be a gourmet chef and pilot a plane, one could easily also take photos).

Cameras typically have a delay feature so the person using it had time to get into the picture. I don't know when that first became a thing but it seemed to exist for quite a while. Otherwise, in olden times you hired a professional photographer.

Pretty much all 35mm cameras and older had cable-release on the shutter, IIRC it was even comon on much older roll-film cameras. Initially external timers could be fitted to this port - then many SLRs then prosumer cameras carried the self-timer function. Late on - pretty much standard functionality, apart from maybe your cheapest point-and-shoots.

Standard camera used by Carl and Ellie - in the timeline - probably something like the Olympus Trip range...
