disappointment

Okay, I'm black -- shouldn't mean anything when it comes to serious critiques, but there it is.

The movie was poorly edited and generic. And for once, I thought Tyler Perry's direction was off.

He isolated the camera way too much, and his still shots were too still. We were watching people talk (damn good looking people), but we weren't watching them act.

Also, David Mann & Jennifer Lewis were ridiculous. David is not Madea and doesn't have the comic brilliance of Tyler Perry. They should have never given him that long euology scene. Jennifer Lewis is best when she's catty and vicious, none of the scenes were set up for her rants. Her best scene was when she was speaking quietly about Rick Foxes' intentions.

All the characters were one dimensional.

It was like the studio told Tyler that he needed to make one movie a year, and he handed this over w/out thinking.

There were also gaps. Why was Brenda so intent on contacting the father of the oldest, what about the dads of the other two.

They sent her only three bus tickets -- how did she get a third.

And they totally underwrote Brenda's character. A woman of a prostitute -- it would have been interesting if they delved into that.

This could have been great, but like I said, it's like he didn't even try.

I hope this isn't the sign of things to come.
