Did you guys notice that Jenifer Lewis played Angela Bassett's mother in "whats love got to with it" and Margaret Avery played Angela Bassett's mother The Jacksons: An American Dream and they all were in this movie.

Yeah actually I did notice that and when I brought it up to my family at the theater, they just said I know waaaaay too much about Angela Bassett! LOL! But the kitchen scene with Angela, Jenifer, and Margaret was even that much more special when you realize they both played her mother at one point. Really cool little trivia there, I think. Thanks for posting and letting me know I'm not the only one!

Does Lynn get confused for Angela as much as people mistake Angela for Lynn! Its funny I dont think they look alike but so many people think that Angela did "Eves Bayou" or "A Thin Line Between Love and Hate" Its crazy!

I know right. I don't know what some people be seeing when they look at them. I thought people got them confused because they are both very talented actresses.

I thought the confusion was because Angela and Lynn play similar roles on film. So you are big Lynn Whitfield fan huh? I'm a fan too, not as much as Angela B. of course but I used to watch Lynn's films back to back when I was younger. She stays gorgeous!

What is your favorite film from her resume? And have you heard anything about that film called "Baby of the Family" with her and Alfre Woodard, Pam Grier, and alot of other big names. It was filmed but never released...

Jenifer Lewis plays everybody's mother at some time or another. She's very authoritative and prominent onscreen. Margaret Avery is also getting alot of those roles now as a gentler matriarchal figure. Unfortunately, black directors don't fish very deeply for black actors and actresses and tend to use the same ones for the same types of roles. No disrespect to Ms. Lewis and Avery. They are some of the best black actresses in the industry.

I said the same thing about Jenifer Lewis and how she is always playing someone's mother.
