This is a very odd film.

To quote James Berardinelli's review:

"...is pure allegory; the film works as an extended philosophical rumination, but fails as a story.
Nine Days is often as frustrating as it is compelling, and the denouement feels forced. The production is also too wordy, with pretentious-sounding dialogue becoming as distracting as the retro technology (old TV sets and VCR's) that's intended to make the movie's reality seem fantastical and otherworldly."

And I will add that the denouement not only felt forced, it was very confusing, and left me wondering what happened to that soul. The film was very frustrating, and left me wondering WTF was that?

I thought it was great. It was clear to me that "that soul" was saved by Will. He changed his mind about her. She made him remember life, see it the way it was meant to be seen. This was symbolized by his rousing recitation of Whitman's "Song of Myself." Her zest for life changed him and lightened his cynicism. I'm sure that she ended up being the chosen one, not the tough, strong guy. Will went with the more sensitive soul.

Were there a lot of holes and unexplained things? For sure. But get past those and you have a pretty cool film.

Okay then. That's why they make chocolate and vanilla. Perhaps the film was a letdown for me after all the hype.

I will take your words under advisement. Though it looks like the kind of odd, weird, film that nobody else likes but I do. 😊

I'm not saying it was a bad film, just kind of confusing. You might just like it.
