Season three thoughts and observations (spoilers)
Scarecrow is another boring villain. He looks like a typical middle-school teacher and he even ends up crying in front of his mama before killing her.
Tim Drake is an annoying stalker fanboy who won't go away. The guy doesn't have any special powers so he doesn't add much to the team. I want to see more heroes with superpowers.
Woke propaganda was introduced to the show when Jason Todd's friend at the coffee shop says that Batman only saved rich people and that the police would not care about a missing orphan who was poor and brown.
The show jumped the shark during episode 9 of season 3. This was when Tim Drake is dead and he meets Donna Troy in some purgatory on a train. Hank shows up to try to return to the land of the living. Rachel is also hanging out with the Amazons on Wonder Woman Island doing a lot of soul searching. Donna Troy and Tim Drake both return from the dead and I always thought Wonder Girl would return through some sort of resurrection.
It was difficult for me to watch episodes 9 through 12. Episode 13 was better since the whole team was involved and there was a big finale where they saved the city with their combined powers. Nightwing once again ditched Superboy in episode 11? so he could inexplicably go off on his own to take care of things. I thought it was horrible to have the Batcave taken over by Scarecrow. It's unrealistic for Bruce Wayne to vanish while the Batcave is commandeered by Scarecrow.
They even took a stab at middle-aged superhero fanboys when the scientist taking selfies with the superheroes was used to represent the immaturity of middle-aged superhero fanboys. They cast some lumpy/frumpy middle-aged woman with an annoying voice as Vee, an ARGUS assassin who infiltrated the Gotham City PD. I thought it was ridiculous when she took out two or three armed cops with her bare hands in the elevator.
This is an unfortunate situation where the writers don't really care about these great characters so they just write lame stories and show a lot of disrespect towards established heroes like Batman. The show also needs better villains but this might just be a problem that a team of sidekicks faces. This team is the C Team so they don't face top-tier villains in the comics. I thought the first season showed promise partly because of the great characters but I thought each season declined due to bad writing. For me, the show jumped the shark in episode nine of season three.
