Season two thoughts and observations (spoilers)

It's DC Comics so I love it BUT season two was uneven. Deathstroke is a really boring villain. The guy has very little emotion and he doesn't have superpowers. He just shoots people and swings around a sword. He's basically a ninja assassin in a black/orange suit.

I hate subtitles so I did not enjoy seeing another mute person doing sign language with subtitles. This is the third recent season of a show that features a mute with sign language. Is this some sort of diversity/equity/inclusion initiative?

Dick Grayson is having some psychological problems since he has an ongoing conversation with an imaginary Bruce Wayne. I was a little bothered by his psychic break since mental illness is a real problem in our society. It also seemed like there were too many characters who had somebody else in their heads. Deathstroke had his kid in his head and Gar/Conner were both taken over by Cadmus.

The heroes also make too many bad decisions. It was odd when Dick Grayson decided to go to prison to atone for his sins. Conner knew what nuclear fission was but he didn't realize that he shouldn't attack the police. The characters go off on their own too often to take on the supervillains instead of getting their teammates to act together.

I also thought it was lame that they killed off two of the bigger characters in Aqualad and Wonder Girl. I don't know if their deaths are canon but these two characters have rich histories. Characters can be resurrected pretty easily in comic books so it may not be a big deal.

The fight scenes are good and the costumes are great. My favorite characters are Nightwing, Superboy and Starfire. Instead of one big villain each season, I would prefer to see the team face off against a new villain every three or four episodes.
