Why was this movie made?

I have not seen the movie so I cant comment about about it. The trailer is crap and almost funny though.

But I was wondering already when I first hear about this movie / project that why it was even made?

- Another Hercules movie project was already ongoing when this project was announced

- They didn't have even script for the movie when the project was announced? Renny Harlin is one of the "writers" and he stepped to this project later.

- Movie didn't have even proper name until in the end. It was just labeled as a 3d movie.

- Huge rush to get the movie done obviously well before the other Hercules movie. Probably they aim to launch the DVD
when the other Hercules has premiere.

- Big budget with unknown actors and the director or writers do not have past success stories.

Who in first place expected that this could be even financially successful case?
Not even the producers?

P.S. Is the 3d even good? :D

....to get a jump on the real anticipated Hercules release and try to ride on those coattails in an obvious way.

Remember, if there is money to be had...everyone wants to try to get a piece of it.

Director or writers do not have past success stories? Check again. They even promote such in their advertising: Renny Harlin's DIE HARD 2 and CLIFFHANGER were both financial successes.

At least the Asylum film would have been enjoyably bad and a whole load of fun and cost about 1/10 if this film.

This would be the plot of an Asylum version of Hercules, It would be modern day and the main character would be a soldier named Hercules. Hercules and his team would have to stop a terrorist named Amphitryon.

Asylum would definitely do something like that

And there you have your answer. Why do you even need to ask?
it's a knockoff movie trying to cash in on the hype surrounding the Hollywood movie, just like every Disney knockoff preceding all the big Disney movies. They are hoping that undiscerning will have heard about the other movie and think this is it.
You can't fault them for counting on the audience being 90% morons. Have you seen what movies are on top of the box-office most of the time?
