As a basic sword and sandle movie, it wasn't too bad

Think about all the sword and sandles films made in the previous 5 decades or so and this one wasn't all that bad. Of course, it mostly ignores the mythology of Hercules (Heracles), but most modern Hollywood movies do that unfortunately. The acting wasn't that great, but how many of these types of films have truly great acting? The story was fun and the effects were okay. It wasn't a film that people will remember 30 years from now as an excellent film and the best of the genre, but for a throwaway Friday night type movie it was pretty good in my opinion.

Finally! Someone out there who actually understands this genre..I agree with your comments, but I think I enjoyed this more than you did; I kind of loved it hahahaha

I liked it okay. It's not a film I could watch multiple times, but for what it was I thought it was good.

The word is spelled 'Sandal..' and this is an entire genre of film, spanning decades, and there are thousands of them. They are a special breed of film, and they are usually appreciated by a certain fan base. The new version starring The Rock might turn out to be good; but it doesn't look like it will be filmed in the same spirit of the typical Sword & Sandal epic..the trailer looks very 'Hollywood' in style. But we shall see.

I don't get all the negativity for this movie myself. I am not saying it's the best movie of the year but it is what it is and I was entertained for 100+ minutes. I think as long as somebody doesn't have high expectations and some time to kill it's a good way to kill a little time.

All that being said not sure if I would have this opinion if I actually paid to see it in the theaters

I didn't think this was a horrible movie. It was rather decent in my opinion. Like many other Sword-and-Sandal movies based on Greek mythology, it doesn't stay true to the myths, so complaining about that is a bit silly in a genre like this.
