Beyonce....
Is she in a large part of the movie? I hear she is only in the movie for like 30 minutes tops!!!
shareShe doesn't appear until about the last 30 minutes in the movie. While she does a decent job as Etta James, it is sort of sad that she is always going to play the black-girl-singer-done-wrong. And then, according to these boards, the part about having an affair with Lenny never even happened. BAD wig too!
shareI couldn't agree more. Its actually the reason I didn't go see it. I'm from Houston, and I'm definitely no Beyonce hater because I think she is a gifted singer. However, acting just isn't her forte.

In my opinion, all of Beyonce's earlier performances cannot be enough to judge her actingm since she's never had a serious role before; she's either singing during the major part of her screen time, or she's very passive. So I don't think it is fair to judge her acting according to earlier performances. However, in Cadillac Records and when she's captured in a scene (next to fire place before he kissed her) with Adrien Brody who IMO gives an amazing performance she brings a very weak acting. Even more, I've lately seen her new release "Obsessed" and now I can say that without any doubt, Beyonce should stick to her very good musical performances and forget about acting! Somehow she performes a lot better in her music videos than she does in a motion picture :p

I was shocked and surprised that Beyonce actually did a good job in this movie IMO. I actually forgot I was watching "Beyonce" at one point.
And her role in Obsessed... I don't know if that's quite fair to judge from as there wasn't much she could do with the terrible script. I did think that she did a good job in her emotional scenes.
