Sad.. especially since it makes no sense. She said earlier she couldn't attend the inauguration for health reasons so wtf is she complaining about. This makes her look very small.. and tacky to say the least. I hope she hasn't fallen off the wagon. That could explain the outburst.

Last films seen....Revolutionary Road - 9/10, Valkyrie - 8/10, Gran Torino - 9/10

Etta passed 3 days ago. She was diagnosed w/dementia in '08. Her son has attributed her statements about Beyonce to her dementia---not 'falling off the wagon'---thank you very much.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, as they say. Etta James, as great a voice as she had, is demonstrating for the world just how trite she is. Beyonce could've sang one of her own songs, but she found that singing one of Etta James' songs was more appropriate. How in the world is that deserving of James' harsh comments? It isn't.

Whether you can't stand Beyonce is an entirely different matter.

That comment must be directed at the poster above you, as I didn't state an opinion about the ,atter dicussed or my like or dislike of Beyonce. For the record, however, I am a huge fan of hers. I think she is the Diva (as in the best female performer) of my generation. Jennifer Hudson Comes at a close second, and Audra McDonald, a third.

I do indeed agree with everything in your post. How can someone so far up in years be so ungracious. The same thing happened when Jennifer Holiday made an ass of herself at the BET Awards by trying to outsing Hudson.

A 'diva', to me, is a talented performer who is eaten up with her stardom & acts like it---as in 'diva-esque'. NOT a flattering term.

Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson (from a film Beyonce was in) can sing rings around Beyonce, in my opinion. Kelly Rowland is close.

Beyonce has good pipes, great commercial coloring & great marketing. I'm from Houston. I'm familiar with her background.

Why so much hate for Beyonce? She's not that bad of a singer... seriously. Compared to, say, Kesha? Beyonce has a pretty decent voice. All this sounds like misdirected hate for manufactured pop music.

Pretty decent? Beyonce probably has the best voice in mainstream music right now and can hold up with even the motown greats. So a few of you maybe don't like some of her Pop hits. But watch her sing live for real before you write her off because the girl can sing her ass off.
