I like it so far!

Pretentious crap….is what I call the film I just watched (Apple TV’s MacBeth) right before Coda.
Yes, MacBeth looks very cool but it’s wooden, too slow, everyone mumbles, amd it can’t hold a candle to GOOD MacBeth films like Throne of Blood or the Polanski version. That’s Coen for you, very hit-or-miss.

So, I wasn’t in a great mood when I started Coda, but it quickly grew on me. It feels down to earth, the characters are funny but real. I love it so far, just wanted to log on quickly to say that.

I loved the whole movie. The family were all interesting characters. I like the plight of the Gloucester fishman side story. There were funny scenes (the doctor’s office, lol). The boyfriend kid was in another film I saw recently…about an Irish kid in the 80s who started a band to impress a girl… he was good in both films. The lead actress has a beautiful voice. I felt bad for the brother who thought up the business idea but still overshadowed by the need for his sister’s abilities. Interesting coming of age story. Filmed in my home state. Gloustah!!!
