Sounds like it's a pretty run of the mill music documentary despite being fully authorized by the band.

I haven't seen this but your comment reminds me of Nick Mason's biography of Pink Floyd. He was kind enough to run it by his bandmates before publishing the book so it was unofficially 'authorized'. They had him omit basically everything that was dramatic in their history that might embarrass someone.
