Dear David Gordon Green....

...why remaking a perfect film? I'm sure a creative guy like you has a lot of ideas floating around in his head, why not creating something new and original rather than copying. Suspiria is a unique experience which is virtual impossible to recreate, it is a film of it's time and it's director Dario Argento.
Remember Psycho and Gus Van Sant? He didn't listen to all the advise and warnings given to him to not remake Hitchcock, look what happened to Psycho, a major bomb! Argento is as Hitchcock unique in his style and also impossible to remake. Why not take the budget you got approved and create something new and exiting with chances of being a success rather than betting on a horse that is already limping before it even gets to the race? Let's be honest a Suspiria remake has to fail, this is not 1977 anymore and you are not Dario Argento. Who you want to please? Today's horror audience made of adolescent boys that never appreciate the classic appeal of this unique film? Spicing it up with some modern twists and turns and the latest teen heartthrobs in tight ballet outfits? Let's face it, like the Psycho remake this one is bound to fail miserably. You have nowhere to go, music, lighting, colors and great camera angles....it all has been done before. Story? What story? Suspiria lives by it's atmosphere alone....and that can't e recreated.

The biggest problem with Van Sant's remake of Psycho was that it was a shot for shot remake. To be fair, it doesn't sound like Green is going the Psycho route and trying to perfectly mimic what Argento did. From the information we have so far, he has made changes already (the school is a boarding school rather than a ballet school, for instance). My guess is that Green probably realizes aping Argento's style would be the wrong move, and has likely put some thought into improving the story.
