So the guy who directed Pineapple Express will direct this?

It just keeps getting better and better...maybe he'll make it a pot movie. That would be so cool, dude!

I couldn't stand that movie. It was one of the few movies in my lifetime (there are 4-5 max) I didn't watch all the way through. It was so uninspired.

This one is about as laughable at when they redid the Wicker Man. Anyone remember that version? You don't...well, that is because it sucked and no one went to see it.

Have you seen any of David Gordon Green's movies? He's a great director.

I love Pineapple Express, but I can see why people would have problems with it. It's shot really well though.

Yes, I've seen all of D. G. Green's movies.

>"He's a great director."<

He's not only not great. He's quite lousy.

i agree that "pineapple express" was a horrid movie. however, that's because it was more of a judd apatow film that a david gorden green.

DGD's earlier films are more in the vein of terrance mallick or robert altman. i think his earlier films were wonderfully made and i was incredibly confused when i heard he was directing an apatow produced film...

despite being a DGD fan, i agree that he's not the right person to remake an argento film. i just can't see him doing horror well.

David Gordon Green is a fantastic director. I even enjoyed Pineapple Express (although it wasn't exactly a personal project for him). The only good thing about this remake is the fact that a talented director is involved. Still, I'd prefer it if he'd focus his talents on something more original.

Before he did Pineapple Express and Eastbound & Down he did some pretty good dramas in Snow Angels and All the Real Girls. Yeah, Suspiria shouldn't be remade, but they're remaking everything so we'll just have to get over it. It won't be as good as the original, so what does it matter who directs it? The remake of The Wicker Man didn't tarnish the original, neither will this.

reply

Yeah.. definitely a bad choice. We'll see.
I personally would love to see this film remade if it were done WELL.
Very good director, good actors, good soundtrack.. But if he's the director I'm guessing the hollywood machine is just trying to crank some stuff out. Not that it will be horrible, just not in the same vein as the original.

Green's early work, stuff like "UNDERTOW", suggest to me that he could
really do something special with SUSPIRIA.

His more recent work makes you question it, though, but i think he
was into some REAL heavy material for a while.. I remember hearing
him say, back after "UNDERTOW", that he really wanted to do a comedy.

At the time that seemed absolutely ludicrous, based on how incredible
his dramatic work was.

Now he's become more for his comedies. It's very strange.

Kinda like when Jeff Bridges was trying to convince people that his dad
could play a role in "BLOWN AWAY". Everyone only remembered him
as the goofball from "HOT SHOTS" and "AIRPLANE!" They forgot he
was quite a dramatic actor at one point!
