She was by far the most talented actress in this movie, she is going to go far. Especially with the fault in our stars, she deserves all the awards/hype

I agree I re-watched this terrific film this week and she is especially excellent. Always different in everything, yes like, The Spectacular Now. Cannot wait to see Fault next week!

I thought Woodley really stole the film. What was so great about her performance was that it could've easily been an "I'M ACTING" type performance, but Woodley pulled her performance off effortlessly. I'm glad that she has gotten the recognition she deserves, but she was absolutely robbed of an Oscar nomination for The Descendants.

I actually thought her performance was kind of weird. She looks about 20, but that's par for the course (Hollywood always uses beautiful young women to play awkward younger teens). She seems to try to make up for this by acting like a bratty 13 year old. But a 20 year old acting like a 13 year old doesn't necessarily average out to a believable 16 year old; it's just weird.
I guess she doesn't like being compared to Jennifer Lawrence, but that is actually a flattering comparison. She is like Lawrence in that she's done a lot of successful teen-oriented movies. But Lawrence has also succeeded in ADULT-oriented movies like "Winter's Bone", "Silver Linings Playbook", and "American Hustle". Woodley is OK in this adult-oriented movie, but she was in no danger of an Academy Award nomination. She ought to more adult-oriented movieses though because she DOES seem to have more talent than most of your typical "hot" but talentless young actresses today.

But I did think she genuinely looked 16 or 17 in this and acted accordingly and appropriately.( I think you're getting the 13 business mixed up with the wannabe rebel kid sister.) I thoroughly enjoyed the interplay with Matt after Alex enters proceedings.
