The point: Sometimes in a persons life you think you know what your life is about. You move through it day to day and you think you have a handle on everything. Then BAM! A tragedy. And the life you thought you had wasn't reality. That you were really asleep. That you just take everything for granted. Yes, his marriage was in trouble. But, I think for men it can be hard to admit that you don't have that perfect life. He thought that she would wake up and he would make it up to her. Then bam bam bam he finds out that it was all a lie. Then after he confronts his wife's lover he slowly starts to realize, hopefully not too late, what really matters. His two kids. The property. It's not all wrapped up in a neat little bow because life is not wrapped up in a neat little bow. He's just trying to make things right as best he can with the circumstances he has left. He isn't going to wake up tomorrow and life will be perfect. The daughters are still going to struggle. And, all he can do is just be there for them. As any one of us can do. The point is he's just this guy like any other guy who is just trying to deal with cards that were dealt him the best way he knew how. And I loved this film. You could really see his struggle.
