What in THE hell was Chris Columbus thinking?

Why on EARTH would he make this movie? He can't be hard-up for money. This is the guy who helmed the first two Harry Potter movies, not to mention other quality films. Why would he agree to direct this lame, half-baked, pitiful excuse for a teen movie? Did he lose a bet? It just seems beneath him. I know what the plot of the movie is, but can someone tell me what the hell the point was?

It's a totally ridiculous movie and I am truly astounded by what Hollywood will commit millions of dollars to produce.

I tend to agree with you. I've come to expect much more from his films. I guess it just goes to prove that even the heavy hitters can strike out once in awhile.

I don't know, but 95% of the movie didn't make sense. I know it was supposed to be a comedy, but still, the parts that didn't make sense weren't funny, and I'm not even sure they were supposed to be.

I liked the movie, but maybe it was better off being directed by Judd Apatow or Will Gluck.
