A 'Stella' question...possible spoiler

I have just finished watching this movie and I'm wondering....why does Stella lie about how long she has had the painting? I mean, it's NOT as though it would matter very much, in Uri's eyes, if she had the thing for a few minutes or many years. Am I missing something?

Thanks for the suggestion...but, I prefer better (and more refined) dining recommendations. A**hole!

Sounds good. Eat my dick then.

No thanks. I gave up limp, flavor-less, prematurely 'seepy' items up for Lent. But, thanks for the suggestion.....asswipe.

i've only watched the whole movie twice through, but as far as i can tell, stella had no idea that the painting was uri's. she had just accepted it as a gift from one-two, who also had no idea it belonged to the russian. pure coincidence. my guess is that saying she's had it for years was just much simpler than saying, "it was a gift from a criminal i'm shagging." especially since uri had just proposed to her moments before.

hope this helps!

I appreciate your comment. Perhaps I am reading too much into this flick, but,....if Uri and Stella were THAT close (for him to propose), don't you think that he would have shown her the painting at some point, during all of their *ahem* business transactions? ;}

i guess anything's possible, guy ritchie left a lot of details open to your own interpretation with this film. but the way i saw it, stella acted as though it was her first time seeing the painting when she's lying in bed with one-two. there was also a moment between uri and his bodyguard...i forget what the EXACT quote was, but it was implied that uri had proposed to/fallen in love with women like stella in the past. so i doubt they were that close. he barely knew her at all.

you can definitely tell stella's no amateur at toying with men's feelings. that was the appeal in her character for me personally, loved her and her wily ways from square one! such a lovely supporting character!
