The Russian Killed Stella and took the painting right? So how did it end up with Archie to give it to Johnny at the end?

When Archie gives him the painting he says "it cost a russian an arm and a leg" or something like that so i would assume that he killed the russian and took the painting

I thought it was pretty obvious by Archie's comment that he and the remains of Lennies gang killed the Russian for it.
