So many plot contrivances and one major plot hole, why kill him? Ben Foster got extracted, why kill Chris Pine. Its never justified or explained. It started out real strong but once the lab job went bad thats when the writing went to pot. Eddie Marsen? Whats the point? Hes in the film for 5 minutes, total disappointment. Hes a great actor, anybody could have done that little bit. And really I am forgiving alot of other problems cause I really wanted to like it.

Harper had a suspicion that their mission was bogus, and that they had assassinated an innocent man. This was confirmed by Harper later in the movie.
Ben Foster believed the mission was a legit data extraction as they had been briefed.
It's all made pretty clear during the final confrontation between Harper and Mike.
